Can you please tell me about the project Persona. What should listeners know about you?

Persona is an open project which allows any obscure influence to enter in. Our musical path goes from industrial, martial, noise and ambient to folk. We are two people, Òscar and Desirée, who live in Barcelona. Music, art and literature have always been our hobbies so when we met we tried to put in common this interests with the foundation of Persona. We try to express through our music our feelings in an instintive way.

Is there a concept for Persona?

Perhaps the concept for Persona is given by the songs and releases itself, that is to say that we try to make a kind of global work in which the songs, the lyrics and the artwork complement each other. Persona tries to bring to the listeners some ambiances and emotions going from some deep saturated textures to more light ones. Every release talks globaly of some topics such as death, delusion, war, honour, nature and also a bitof hope in some of the lyrics.

Is this your first appearence as musicians?

Yes, this is the first time that we record a release as a band. Òscar had been Dj some years ago in several clubs in Catalonia. He tried to make a music band with some friends and he published a fanzine called Der Ketzer. Desirée formed part of a band in which she sang and composed the lyrics and during one year she sang in the Barcelona University choral. A part from that we had never made any serious project.

Your album is called "Selbstmord". Please explain your fascination about this topic.

Suicide is a strange aim where many people has tried to arrive and many of them have failed in their journey. The true triumph of life over death arrives in the moment in which cowardice forces use to fight in a world that seems unfair to us. The concept of eternity was created by mankind but he will never reach it. "Selbstmord" was a kind of first musical and ideological suicide in which we metamorfosed our musical influences and thoughts.

Do you think "suicide is allright" (as Rausch put it)?

There can be many reasons for a person to commit suicide. As Albert Camus tells in his "Le Mythe de Sisyphe", there can be many kinds of suicides, as the philosophical one. We think suicide is very horrible and a person should never arrive to these extrems to scape the problems but we are conscious that this is one of the thoughts that can pass through the mind of a person when he doesn't finds the answer to a big trouble or unhappiness in life.
